Darren Woods

Choir Director

 

Darren Woods is currently a senior music education major at Western Illinois University. There, he participates in the University Singers, principle percussionist for the Wind Ensemble, principle timpanist for the Symphony Orchestra, drum set player for the Jazz Studio Orchestra, drumline captain of the Marching Leathernecks Drumline, and participates in any other group that needs him. Outside of WIU, Darren is the director and drummer for the Rooftop Big Band that he started in 2022. In his spare time, he likes to spend time fishing, hunting, and practicing his instruments and singing. Darren grew up in the Disciples of Christ Church in Peoria, Illinois where his parents are the Music Coordinator and Organist. There, he participated in the Sanctuary Choir, Jubilate Ringers, Praise Band and occasionally performed for special music. In addition, Darren served as a Junior Deacon and volunteered in the sound booth. Darren earned the Eagle Scout rank during his time in Boy Scouts.
